"Fiber to the Library" is the latest project under the Community TeleStructure Initiative.
F2L calls for a national goal to connect every library in the US by 2010. Library roles in communities are rapidly changing in the digital age.

F2L advocates powerfully for more support for libraries as "Community Technology Hub" and Early Adopters where technologies are adopted
first for shared community use and as an ideal demo site for emerging technologies.
Libraries are also proposed to play additional roles as Guides for proliferating, multi-level
e-Govt. applications and as First Responders maintaining hardened communications and informationresources for disaster preparedness and relief.

Community TeleStructure Initiative is a broad collaboration of public and private interests
who pledge to work jointly or independently to encourage communities to take responsibility for the design and development of strategies that promote local broadband deployment. State Broadband Roundtables have convened in California, Virgina and Massachusetts at
the invitation or with support from the offices of the governors.

* In 1997 DVA coined the term "TeleStructure" to refer to the set of interconnected physical components and support structures comprising telecommunications infrastructure with special emphasis on the local level.
